Desmond Tutu urges you to braai on 24 September

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, also known as “the Arch” and also known as “the patron of Braai4Heritage” has made a public, explicit and direct appeal to all South African citizens to braai on 24 September.

This is Archbishop Desmond Tutu. I urge you to celebrate South Africa’s common heritage with our favourite past time. Gather around fires and Braai4Heritage on 24 September, the celebration of the nation.

In these final few days before 24 September an audio recording of this message is being played by a few of the biggest radio stations in the country. (At the time of writing they included 5fm, Metro, Gagasi, YFM, Capricon, Jozi, 2Oceansvibe). If you are a DJ and can help us (the Archbishop and myself) spread this message by playing it on your station, please email me and you will be sent an Mp3 file with this message. Likewise, if you are part of a TV station, we have a hi-res version of this video for you.
