Ingredients
FOR THE PEACH CHUTNEY:
- 500g peaches, peeled and finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 2 tots brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 small chilli (optional)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 375 ml white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
FOR THE BOEREWORS PATTIES: - 500g pork mince
- 500g lean beef mince
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon fine coriander
- 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon fine cloves
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper
- 1 tot water
- 1 tot Worcestershire sauce
- 6 hamburger buns
Method
- Place all the ingredients for the chutney into your potjie and simmer over very low heat until cooked and thick. This will take about 30 minutes to reach this point.
- Mix all the ingredients together for the “boerewors” and mix well, making sure the spices are mixed through all the meat.
- Using your recently washed hands, form the meat into 6 patties and braai over hot coals.
- LIghtly toast your buns and serve the patties straight from the grid on top of the buns with your peach chutney over the patties.
