Venison Burgers

Jan Braai | Venison Recipe

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 4 venison patties  (ask your butcher to make the correct cut and blend for you)
  • Jan Braai Original Salt
  • 1 tin apricot jam (you will need about ½ cup / 125ml)
  • 300g cheddar cheese (grated or sliced)
  • 1 packet (200g) streaky bacon
  • 4 hamburger rolls
  • butter or olive oil for the rolls

WHAT TO DO

  1. Make a big fire and braai the bacon in your hinged grid on the fire. When the bacon is done,set aside and season the patties generously with Jan Braai Salt. Braai the patties for a total of 8 – 10 minutes until cooked and nicely charred. 
  2. Just before the patties are done, add apricot jam on top of each patty and top that with cheese.
  3. Spread the rolls with butter or olive oil and toast on the fire, making sure not to burn the rolls.
  4. Build your burger: roll, pattie, apricot jam, cheese, bacon, roll.
