Currywurst with Jan Braai Boerewors& Tomato Relish Recipe

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 1 packet Jan Braai Original Boerewors

FOR THE RELISH

  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (chopped and crushed)
  • 1 tot olive oil
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 sachet tomato paste (50 g)
  • 1 tin tomatoes
  • 1 tot balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tot sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

TO SERVE:

  • extra curry powder for serving
  • chips for serving

WHAT TO DO

MAKE THE RELISH:

  1. Chop the onion and bell pepper. Also crush and chop the garlic cloves.
  2. Heat the oil in your potjie or pan on the fire and fry the onion and bell pepper until soft. Add the curry powder, garlic and tomato paste and fry for two more minutes.
  3. Now add the tomatoes, vinegar, sugar and salt, and mix well. Scrape anything sticking to the bottom of the potjie or pan loose with the assistance of the juices from the tomatoes.
  4. As soon as the mixture starts to boil, turn the heat down by moving the potjie or pan to the edge of the fire, so that it’s just lightly simmering.
  5. Braai the boerewors for 8 minutes on hot coals until done. Slice into pieces, pour the sauce over and sprinkle curry powder over the sauce. Serve with chips
